Monday started with a laugh, courtesy of Samantha. She sent a photo of Lambchop, prepped for a squeaker-ectomy and ready for its big move to Saba. Albus, bless his destructive heart, is obsessed with evicting the squeakers from his toys, so this was a win for everyone involved (especially Lambchop!).

Work was surprisingly quiet, likely due to the winter storm back in the northeast. Apparently, Jason’s cat, Mario, decided to take advantage of the peace and butt-dialed me from Jason’s Apple Watch. It was a first – and definitely hilarious. The quiet day meant I actually got caught up on everything. A rare and beautiful thing!

Tuesday was all about prepping Samantha for her upcoming visit. I sent her my official “Saba Pro Tips” list, filled with essentials and leave-at-home warnings. Work was productive, and I had a fun chat with a favorite client who was amazed by my newfound island life.

I attempted a romantic date night with Dave at Colibri, but it morphed into a lively hangout with tourists and locals. We started at Colibri, then moved to The Hideaway for dinner. Fun, but not exactly the candlelit dinner I envisioned. Anise wasn’t sure she could handle another night out on Wednesday, after several consecutive days of outings.

Wednesday morning I embraced my inner sloth and slept in an extra hour. Perks of working on Saba time! I’m not thrilled about working until 6 PM, so I’m eagerly awaiting the daylight saving time switch, although it will cut into my leisurely morning routine. Anise rallied and invited me out, so Dave braved the market with my list (a few misses, but overall a successful trip). Sadly, no new chew toys for Albus, but Samantha is bringing reinforcements next week. We met Anise & Jennifer in town, starting at Colibri and ending at Swinging Doors. Good times, as always.

Thursday we finally tackled the yard, much to Albus’s delight. Daniella even stopped by for a pre-mowing playdate with him. I booked a sunset cruise for my dad’s visit in April. I can’t wait to see Saba from that perspective, especially at sunset. Later, I got some bad news: Aunt Dori fell on the ice and injured her knee. She’s laid up and struggling with her newfound dependence. I totally get it – asking for help is tough when you’re fiercely independent. I quickly assembled a care package on Amazon, complete with a grabber (a lifesaver during my own recovery).

TGIF! The week wasn’t bad, but who doesn’t love Friday? The morning was productive and uneventful. The afternoon, however, was filled with calls and emails from people determined to make my life difficult.

After work we headed to Tropics Cafe for Dave’s colleague’s birthday. While waiting for Dave to park, I met two lovely ladies, Tracy and Heather. Tracy had built a pyramid out of Heineken bottle caps, which I thought was adorable. They joined us for the evening and turned out to be staying just a few houses away! We drank (except for responsible Dave), danced, chatted with everyone, and ended the night with karaoke at The Hideaway. They even stopped by to meet Albus before heading home. A perfect end to the week!
