Hey everyone! This week was a series of booking nightmares, puppy mishaps, and existential dumpster reflections. You know, just a typical week in my world!

It all started on Tuesday, the day Disney’s Candlelight Processional packages became available. I hopped on the phone at the crack of 7:40 AM, only to be greeted with a 90-minute hold time. Ninety minutes! In phone time, that’s practically a geological era. So, I bravely ventured online, managed to book the packages, but hit a snag with the actual tickets. Enter my amazing dad, who, like a true Disney hero, volunteered to tackle the ticket purchase at Epcot the next day. Thanks, Dad!

Later that day, I had a much-needed catch-up with some friends. I found myself unloading all my frustrations about how it had been navigating the world in a wheelchair. It’s amazing how therapeutic a good vent session can be, especially with people who weren’t constantly witnessing the daily struggles. Oh, and we also had a dumpster delivered. Watching them maneuver that thing into place was like a real-life game of Tetris, but with higher stakes and the potential for property damage.

Wednesday started bright and early at 6 AM. I decided to just embrace the day, and surprisingly, it turned out to be super productive. We had a house showing, Dad secured the Disney tickets, and I booked the first leg of Albus’s journey to Saba!

The house showing, however, came with a hilarious (but mortifying) twist. Just as Dave was about to whisk Albus away, our furry friend decided to leave a little “present” right by the front door. And, of course, the prospective buyer stepped right in it, tracking it all over the upstairs. Oh, puppies! You gotta love ’em, even when they’re redecorating your house with… well, you know.

My dad, meanwhile, was conquering Epcot and snagging those coveted tickets. And after battling American Airlines’ automated phone system (seriously, who designs these things?), I finally got a real human on the line – a lifesaver named John. Twenty minutes later, I had my flight from Hartford to Sint Maarten booked. Victory!

Thursday morning brought more flight booking success (the return trip from Saba!), a relatively uneventful workday, and a solo evening of soapy TV and a Boboli pizza. I did have to omit the pepperoni, though, because apparently, I’m living on the edge and discovered it was past its expiration date. Oops!

Before bed, I unearthed my high school hockey stat books, which I’m entrusting to a friend for safekeeping. They hold a lot of meaning for her family too, and it was a fun trip down memory lane to flip through them.

Friday was dinner with my friend to transfer ownership of my stat books. It was a lovely evening out, and Saturday brought the sale of Dave’s car to my cousin’s Aunt Tracy. She was thrilled with her new ride, and we spent the rest of the day purging items to maximize the dumpster’s potential.

At one point, feeling helpful, I attempted to carry two light items to the dumpster. It took several minutes and a whole lot of careful maneuvering. I quickly realized my limitations and decided to stick to filling trash cans inside. An injured shoulder and two healing ankles don’t exactly make for a stellar moving crew! And with Dave leaving in a week, the pressure is on!

Sunday started with a trip to the ATM, conveniently located next to Ovens of France. Naturally, I couldn’t resist their incredible croissants. Those croissants are one of the few things I’ll miss about Woodbury. It’s a beautiful area, but it’s never felt like home. This move to Saba feels like a chance to finally find my place. I’m so excited about living within walking distance of everything I need and want. The rest of Sunday was spent doing what we’ve been doing: packing and purging.

So, that’s the update from my corner of the world. Stay tuned for more adventures (and hopefully fewer booking nightmares) as we get closer to the big move! Wish me luck!
