Hello again, fellow adventurers! This week has been a mixed bag of the mundane and the marvelous, seasoned with a dash of the downright bizarre.

Thursday started bright and early, with Albus ready for his morning constitutional. Dave, however, was not thrilled about establishing a 5 AM routine, so I caved and took him out instead! On our walk, we ran into Anne’s hermit crab buddy from the night before. The little guy scurried away like he owed Albus money. Later, during Albus’ afternoon stroll, we saw the same crab, but Albus didn’t even give him a second glance! Talk about selective vision.

Work was, well, work… until it wasn’t. An eerie silence descended upon my inbox Thursday afternoon, only to be broken by the dreaded words: “Microsoft Outlook issue.” Turns out, external emails were playing hide-and-seek, refusing to be delivered. Cue mild panic and frantic checking. Thankfully, the tech gods smiled upon us, and the problem was resolved by Friday. Crisis averted!

My Saba residency is still in processing purgatory, so I had a telehealth appointment with my US doctor to stay on top of my medication management. Gotta keep those ducks in a row, even in paradise!

Thank goodness it’s Friday! Despite the torrential downpour, we ventured into town for dinner at The Hideaway. Working from home requires periodic outings to maintain sanity, you know?

The highlight of the week? A text from my amazing friend Samantha, asking if I could pick her up from the airport in early March! Cue the happy dance! For those of you who have been following my journey, you know how pivotal Samantha was to my recovery. Having her as a neighbor in Woodbury was the only thing I missed, so I’m beyond thrilled to show her around Saba. I have a feeling she may never want to leave!

Inspired by Samantha’s upcoming visit, I decided to shake things up with my morning coffee. The creamer situation here is… let’s just say “underwhelming.” So, I bravely ventured into the world of black coffee with sugar. And you know what? It wasn’t half bad! Dare I say, a new habit might be forming. After all, necessity is the mother of invention!

On Saturday, Dave and I embarked on a spontaneous adventure to the far side of the island to pay an auto repair bill. Serendipity led us to a “come and go beach” with a concrete fire pit and a stunning view of Diamond Rock. Talk about a hidden gem! We celebrated our discovery with pastries from Bizzy B (though my cold cappuccino dreams were dashed by a lack of ingredients at Saba Snack).

As I chatted with friends later that day, it hit me just how much I love my new life here. Saba just *fits*. It’s like living in a fairy tale, complete with charming architecture and a vibe of total acceptance. It’s an amazing feeling to be a part of that.

I ended the night catching up on General Hospital (finally, some answers about who shot Drew Cain!) and enjoying a calm evening on the patio. After a week of gale-force winds, a little peace and quiet was exactly what the doctor ordered.

Until next time, keep exploring, keep discovering, and keep an eye out for rogue hermit crabs!
