Well, folks, another one bites the dust, and you know what that means – it’s time for another chapter! These past few days were a mixed bag of productivity, island life, and a touch of soap opera-induced reflection.

Sunday started with a mission: Operation Get-My-Friends-to-Saba-for-Carnival. After scouring the internet for the best flight deals, I fired off some texts and waited for the confirmations to roll in. By 10 am, Dave’s best friend, Chuck, was officially on board! Looks like the party planning is officially underway.

Next on the agenda: water. Bottled water is a must here, and between my coffee and water consumption, we go through it pretty quickly. After stocking up, we hit up Saba Snack for lunch and bumped into our tourist friend, Wesley, from El Momo! He was taking a well-deserved rest day after conquering a hike. Speaking of Saba Snack, their cold cappuccino is ridiculously good. Seriously, everyone was ordering it and raving about it. If you’re ever on Saba, it’s a must-try.

I needed to make arrangements to shadow Hermes’ next weekend, so we stopped at The Tipsy Goat Bar. Hermes, naturally, was already there, napping at someone’s feet. After connecting with Hermes’ human, I had secured a contact to set me up with Hermes the following weekend for my feature on his life. Score!

Later, we got word that more friends had booked their flights and secured an Airbnb. Excitement levels are high to show them around the island! Then, we were treated to the sight of yet another car failing to make it up the hill. Turns out, this car was on loan to James and Linda, who will be our neighbors for the next few weeks. We had a nice chat, while Albus, stuck behind the “evil gates,” did his best to insert himself into the conversation with plenty of barking and crying. He’s a spicy one, that Albus.

I even managed to squeeze in a couple of episodes of General Hospital, but I’m still behind on the Drew Cain shooting mystery. Don’t spoil it for me! All in all, it was a productive weekend, even if I could use another day of rest.

Monday started with a tech support chat from the depths of you know where. Let’s just say I encountered the least competent person ever. An hour wasted, zero progress made. Then, work involved endless phone calls where nobody seemed to grasp the concept of “I’m busy!” Not the most productive day, despite my best efforts. Sometimes the phones just take over.

After work, I braved another Bluehost chat and actually got someone who seemed to understand the issue. Fingers crossed it works! If not, my self-imposed deadline for fixing the blog page’s subscribe button is toast. Sigh.

After the tech support saga, I watched an episode of General Hospital and was struck by a wave of nostalgia for my late Aunt Sue. We used to dissect episodes together, trying to solve the current mystery. I regret not taking her to the General Hospital Fan Weekend in Memphis while she was still here. We would have had a blast. And that brings me to a public service announcement: don’t forget to make time for the people who matter to you! I’ve never heard anyone say “Gee, I wish I spent more time at work and less with my loved ones”. As they say in the Dead Poet’s Society, “Carpe Diem!”

Speaking of Aunt Sue, when she first got sick, I ordered a Cameo video from James Patrick Stuart from General Hospital. For those unfamiliar, Cameo lets you get personalized videos from celebrities. James Patrick Stuart was amazing – kind, approachable, and genuinely caring. After Aunt Sue passed, I wanted to send him a thank you note, but never found his contact info. So, James Patrick Stuart, if you’re ever reading this, you made my Aunt Sue so happy in her final months. She cherished the peek behind the scenes you gave her, and your kindness was greatly appreciated. If you’re ever in Saba, please look me up! I’d love to thank you in person and show you around.

And that’s a wrap! Stay tuned for more island adventures, tech support tribulations, and maybe even a solution to the Drew Cain mystery. Until next time!
