Hello, blog readers! This installment has it all – homemade experiments, electrical mishaps, and potentially life-changing decisions. Let’s dive in!

Sunday started with a culinary adventure (or misadventure, depending on how you look at it). I attempted to make homemade coffee creamer. The result? Let’s just say my first cup was a bit of a disaster. Too much creamer + accidentally weak coffee = not a winning combination. On the bright side, Dave swooped in with a recipe for my favorite store-bought creamer. Maybe next Sunday will bring coffee redemption!

The rest of the day was gloriously lazy. We caught up with loved ones, I indulged in a rare afternoon nap (a true sign of relaxation!), binged some General Hospital, and updated my ever-evolving music playlist. Pure bliss!

Monday was a typical workday, uneventful and steady. But then, BAM! Dave started cooking dinner, and suddenly our house transformed into a strobe-lit dance club. Turns out, our electrical system has its limits. Oven, stovetop, and tea kettle at once? Apparently not! Well, lesson learned.

Later, we chatted with Dave’s mom, Janet, who’s currently soaking up the California sun. We shared our exciting news: we’re negotiating for a house on Saba! We’re hoping to make the purchase contingent on selling our Connecticut house and renting it out until the sale is finalized. Fingers crossed the current owner is on board, especially since our other option, Park Lane House, recently sold. Wish us luck!

Tuesday started with a text to Samantha, letting her know that Albus is very excited that in exactly one month she’ll be with us in Saba! I’m, of course, excited too. It will be so nice to see her and show her around the island.

Work was…challenging, to put it mildly. It felt like everyone was determined to make my day as difficult as possible. Incompetence, rudeness, and general unpleasantness were the themes of the day. My colleagues were in the same boat, and we were all counting down the minutes until 5 pm. To add insult to injury, I accomplished absolutely nothing. A total waste of a workday!

To shake off the bad vibes, Dave and I headed to The Hideaway for dinner and drinks at the bar. Good food and island gossip were just what I needed. Then, the real excitement began! While chatting with Samantha on the phone, we got amazing news: the owner of our dream house was agreeable to our offer and just had a few questions. After some back-and-forth, we sent a written offer to purchase the house! Now, we’re anxiously awaiting official acceptance, but things are looking promising!

I woke up on Wednesday to find ourselves enveloped in clouds. Living 1,400 feet above sea level on Saba has its perks, including the occasional experience of being *inside* a cloud. We’ve even had clouds drift through our living room when both doors are open! It’s a surreal and magical experience.

Thankfully, work was 99% smoother than Tuesday. I was productive, dealt with pleasant people, and generally had a decent day. Dave even brought home our first Amazon order to the island, which took a few weeks to arrive but contained some much-needed supplies.

After work, we met up with Anise and Jennifer at the Swinging Doors for Wednesday night’s outing. I grabbed dinner from Amonhana on the way and had a fantastic time, heading home around 9ish. Right now I’m limited by the endurance of my chauffeur, Dave, but once we get a place in town, I’ll be able to come and go as I please!

So, that’s the scoop for this week! Stay tuned for updates on the house purchase, coffee creamer experiments, and more island adventures!
