Hello, fellow adventurers! Think of this installment as a quirky sitcom episode, complete with plot twists, minor disasters, and a healthy dose of island charm.
Our Saturday started with Dave and Albus playing neighborhood heroes. Their morning walk took an unexpected turn when they encountered some distressed folks needing help. A medical emergency, a language barrier, and a non-responsive 911 system? Just another day in paradise! Just for clarity, I should mention that our 911 calls are routed to Bonaire, who then notifies Saba. Anyway, a fireman neighbor saved the day. We’re sending good vibes to the gentleman in need!
Later, we ventured into town for a shopping spree at Big Rock Market, Bizzy B, ICS, and Big Rock 3. Our first mission? To snag a vacuum (because adulting). But plot twist! The credit card system was down island-wide. Cue the collective groan. Thankfully, Bizzy B still delivered with those delightful soft rolls (my weakness, I confess!) and a jalapeno cheddar bread that was seriously addictive.

To recap the past couple of posts: power outage, credit card chaos, and a 911 fail. Saba’s showing off its “off-grid” capabilities, but hey, we’re still loving it here. The power outage led to a fun evening with friends, the neighbor got help, and who *really* needs a vacuum *right now*?
The shopping trip was eventually completed, but not before the car decided its side mirrors were on strike. And to top it off, a movie night turned into a frustrating tech battle with a crashing “Army of Darkness.” What a day! We threw in the towel and grabbed some takeout after a quick drink at Swinging Doors. Sometimes, you just need a chill night.
Sunday was dedicated to relaxation. I spent the day basking in music, blogging, and catching up with loved ones. Dave was gearing up for a conference on Saba and St. Eustatius, leaving me in charge of the Booby Hill homestead. What kind of mischief could I get into? Probably none. Living up here requires a taxi for trips to Windwardside, so my adventures would be limited. But I definitely planned a trip or two into town!

I also saw an unidentified object in the night sky. At first I was trying to figure out what that really bright star was, so I took a picture and called Dave onto the patio to investigate. He saw it and went to retrieve his phone for his starfinder app, and poof! It vanished before he could return. Maybe a satellite that fell? Anyway, it was unusual.
Monday at work was surprisingly smooth, despite being short-staffed. I treated myself to some Saba Spice at Swinging Doors (gotta get it while it’s there!) and steak and water at the market. Yes, I know, it’s a weird pairing, but don’t judge!
And then… the cinnamon roll incident. While washing dishes and waiting for the oven to preheat, a glass took a kamikaze dive off the drying rack, exploding into a million pieces. Shards of glass EVERYWHERE. I even managed to slice my ankle in the chaos, triggering a flashback to my big fall last year. It was a surprisingly emotional moment, and I left Dave to handle the glass cleanup while I recovered from the shock and the bleeding ankle. The dishes remained unwashed.

Tuesday was a solo evening as Dave attended a work function. In fact, he had two work functions: a team building exercise and Jobean Glass Studio, and a dinner at Tropics Cafe. I embraced the peace and quiet, recharging before Dave got home to pack for his trip.
So, there you have it – unexpected twists, minor mishaps, and moments of pure island life. Stay tuned for more Saba adventures!
