Thursday was so uneventful, it barely deserves a mention. Work was work, the evening was quiet, and the most exciting thing that happened was me finally figuring out what kind of birds are always hanging around my house. Turns out, they’re zenaida doves. Who knew bird identification could be so thrilling? In other news, Winair had a flash sale, and for a hot second, Dave and I considered a spontaneous island hop. Alas, his work calendar threw a wrench in those plans.

Friday brought better news: I booked a trip to the USA in May! Get ready for me, Florida and Connecticut, because I’m coming back for two weeks! As for the Winair sale, it was a bust for my travel dates. Dave and I brainstormed other destinations, but nothing quite aligned. Oh well, it’s an annual sale, and there’s always next year, right?

Later, Dave picked up our barbecue from Swinging Doors, and after we ate, we ventured into town. He had a hankering for some techno at Tropics Cafe, while I was on a mission to hit up The Hideaway and Colibri. I bumped into Darren at The Hideaway and hung out there for about an hour until Dave arrived (apparently the techno was non-existent at the techno event), and soon the three of us were Colibri-bound. Huge props to Darren for sticking to his smoke-free plan! I also finally managed to snag some johnny cakes. These elusive treats are like a donut without the hole, and they were totally worth the wait!

Saturday kicked off bright and early, thanks to Albus’s insistent need for a morning walk. Dave took one for the team, while I decided to embrace the sunrise. And while it wasn’t my best sunrise ever, let’s be real, is there really such a thing as a *bad* sunrise?

Midday, we hit the market. I grabbed a cold cappuccino from Saba Snack and some scalloped potatoes from The Hideaway. Then, around 5:30, I headed back into town for a bingo fundraiser for the Saba Carnival. The Facebook event said 6pm, the lady there said 6:30pm, but it didn’t actually start until 7pm. Ah, island time!

Now, this wasn’t your typical cruise ship or casino bingo. Forget cash prizes! This bingo was all about household items. We’re talking paper towels, cleaning supplies, waffle makers, and even a case of Heineken. Sadly, I didn’t win a single round. But then, during one of the breaks, they announced a “check under your chair” surprise. And guess what? I found a note that entitled me to a free drink! Score!

Dave, ever my designated driver, chauffeured me around. But the bingo extravaganza ran way longer than expected, so I bailed before the end. I passed my bingo card to the lovely ladies at my table and headed home around 10:30pm. All in all, another Saba adventure in the books!
