Hey everyone, welcome back to my little corner of the internet! Life’s been…well, let’s just say eventful since my last update. Let’s dive in, shall we?
Sunday was Father’s Day, and my stepdaughter and her hubby would be coming over for lunch. Jared drove Jenn home in the morning, as she had been up visiting for the weekend, and then I convinced Dave to wheel me out front for some much-needed yard time. The weather was surprisingly cooperative, holding off on the rain. The kids arrived around 1ish, and after a pleasant visit, Dave wheeled me back out for another dose of sunshine. We finished the day with dinner and a movie, then crashed – because let’s be honest, recovery is exhausting!
Monday was a bit…slower. Dave’s been glued to my side since the accident, which is sweet but also a little intense. He’s like a highly caffeinated Secret Service agent permanently assigned to “Operation Keep The Wife Upright.” Even Finnegan, bless his furry little heart, seems to be handling my immobility better than Dave! I did manage to sneak in some more yard time in the afternoon, and even convinced Dave to take me for a short drive! Freedom! While we were out, I got the good news that my CT Paid Leave claim was approved. One less thing to worry about, you know?
The evening brought some…entertainment. Albus, our resident puppy comedian, has decided that Finnegan’s sole purpose in life is to play with him. This involves Albus parking himself a foot in front of Finnegan and barking incessantly. Finnegan, being the patient old soul he is, just sighs dramatically, relocates, and eventually retreats downstairs to escape the puppy-induced chaos. We’re working on it, but I’m honestly amazed Finnegan hasn’t eaten bite-sized Albus yet.

Then came Tuesday. Dave woke up feeling like he’d been hit by a bus. Turns out, running on fumes for weeks finally caught up with him, so he called in sick. More quality time staring at each other in the living room! I swear, we’re going to start communicating telepathically soon.
Wednesday brought a brief respite. Dave went back to work, and I had some glorious solo time until Samantha came over to wrangle the pups. We chatted, she gave the pups a potty break, and then I was left to my own devices…and the living room TV! Hello, trash TV, my old friend. Later, I got a fun surprise in the mail – a letter informing me that my ambulance ride was out of network, so insurance is only covering half. Seriously? Is there anything *in* network these days?

Thursday started with a 4am wake-up call courtesy of my back. This cot is not my friend. I migrated to the living room couch, but sleep remained elusive. Being a devout side sleeper stuck on my back is a special kind of torture. Around 6:30am, I went to make coffee and discovered that SOMEONE had put the creamer on the top shelf. This is a problem because the last time I tried to grab it with my grabber, it took a dive and exploded all over the kitchen. So, I had to wait for Dave to make my coffee. The struggle is real, people.
But it was all worth it because today was the day! My first real shower since the accident! A huge shout out to Scrubzz rinseless cleansing wipes for keeping me somewhat civilized in the meantime. Seriously, if you ever find yourself in a sponge bath situation, those things are a lifesaver. Samantha arrived around 11am and stayed through lunch, and a short while later, occupational therapy arrived to help me navigate the shower. They used a transfer bench to get me in and out, and it was glorious. I felt fully clean for the first time in weeks.

As if the day wasn’t eventful enough, Dave called after the OT folks left to tell me he was heading to the walk-in clinic. He was feeling even worse, and the verdict is in: he has something called **farmer’s lung**. Farmer’s lung?! I’ve never even *heard* of it! Seriously, he never catches anything normal. Apparently, it’s an allergic reaction to moldy hay or crops. (We don’t have any hay or crops) Three medications should fix him up, although, of course, our wonderful insurance company denied the fourth one, which was for pain. United Healthcare just sucks.
So, that’s the latest from my corner of the world. Yard time, dog drama, a glorious shower, and a husband with farmer’s lung. What a week! Stay tuned for more adventures (and hopefully fewer medical mysteries!).
