Hello, blog readers! As the days dwindle down to my big move, things are getting… interesting. Let’s dive right in, shall we?
I worked a half-day on Tuesday because my cleaning lady was coming over to help me with the Herculean task of packing. We made some serious progress, and once we were done, I immediately ordered more boxes and bubble wrap. It’s like a never-ending supply chain of cardboard and plastic! I even managed to wrangle my jewelry collection, a glittering hoard passed down from my beloved Aunt Sue (a woman who knew her way around a jewelry store). Amongst the costume pieces are some high quality items as well, and I’m excited to bring it all with me. Alas, the Albus situation remained unresolved, leaving us to ponder solutions another day.
Wednesday was a hybrid work day, culminating in the office Christmas dinner at 1754 House, a personal favorite restaurant. I’m a firm believer in the joy of gift-giving, and since I had a hand in selecting the presents, I was eager to witness the reactions. The evening was a resounding success! The gifts were a hit, especially the matching crochet hats for Jamie and her horse. The best part? Jamie’s bewildered “Where did you even FIND this?” followed by everyone pointing directly at me. (Etsy, my friends. Etsy is where the magic happens.)

Thursday arrived, but a solid solution for Albus remained elusive. We discovered a reputable pet transport service, but the pre-Christmas price tag was enough to induce a serious case of sticker shock. Post-January 6th, the cost was literally half the price. The question then became: who could care for Albus in the interim? The list of potential caregivers is short, but I decided to start with Trisha, hoping to cash in on one last favor. If that didn’t pan out, I’d have to sleep on it and hope for a stroke of genius.
Thankfully, Friday morning brought a text from Albus’ rescue organization: Trisha was willing to take him in until his transport! Huzzah! I spent the morning coordinating with the transport company, and by midday, things were (hopefully) under control. I still have plenty of items on my to-do list, but after work, I’m grabbing dinner with some friends from my ladies’ group.

I met up with Suzanne and Jackie at the Flat Five, which is on the lower level of 1754 House. It’s a chic jazz bar with live music on the weekends. Suzanne had kindly ordered me one of the seasonal drinks, a cranberry hot honey margarita. It was quite tasty, but the original was salted, which is the one and only reason I’d ever return a drink. They remade it for me, though. It was a really nice outing, and the ladies even treated me! Once home, Samantha came over for a visit, and after that, I went to bed.
So, that’s the latest from my corner of the world. Stay tuned for more adventures as the move draws ever closer!
