Okay, folks, buckle up because life has officially decided to throw a curveball (or maybe a tropical fruit basket?) our way. After weeks of feeling like a perpetually exhausted zombie, I actually slept until 6am today! I know, groundbreaking stuff. I celebrated with coffee and a pre-work chat with Jenn, while Dave basked in the glory of a stress-free weekend.

Speaking of Dave, his job has been a stress-inducing beast lately, so this downtime is crucial. He’s been actively pursuing other opportunities, and I have some exciting news to share on that front. Remember how we’ve been dreaming of relocating to South Jersey to be closer to family? Well, he applied for a dream job in Philadelphia! There’s just nothing in our immediate area that would be a good fit for him, and this Philly gig would tick all the boxes. He even received a request for additional information, which he promptly provided. And get this – his cover letter directed them to his LinkedIn profile, and he confirmed today that a recruiter from Philly checked it out! Fingers crossed, people!

But wait, there’s more! Earlier this week, I stumbled upon *another* potentially amazing job opportunity for Dave. This one is… well, let’s just say it’s a *little* further afield. We’re talking about the position of Department Head for the Public Entity of Saba. Yes, *that* Saba. As in, the tiny, gorgeous Caribbean island that Dave has been fantasizing about retiring to ever since we visited for a day last year. Almost on a whim, he submitted an application and cover letter, again directing them to his LinkedIn profile. They replied saying they extended the deadline due to limited applications, but would be in touch.

Now, here’s the kicker: I can work remotely for my current job! This means I can theoretically live *anywhere* and (hopefully) stay with my amazing company. Seriously, my coworkers are the best. One of them even texted me this morning to offer to bring us dinner next week! Talk about supportive.

So, back to Saba. The Public Entity of Saba *also* checked Dave’s LinkedIn profile! So both top job choices have at least reviewed his application. The upshot is that we’re looking at two potential locations – Philadelphia or Saba – and this whole thing is likely to happen quickly. Naturally, I’ve already started browsing real estate listings in both areas. Priorities, people!

I’m personally rooting for the New Jersey move, as it would mean family time galore and I could potentially cut back to part-time work. And, let’s be honest, I would have preferred to spend at least another week there before taking the leap to move to Saba, but if I’m *forced* to spontaneously relocate to a Caribbean island, I’ll find a way to cope. (Cue the tiny violins.)

Of course, there are logistical challenges aplenty, especially considering I’m currently laid up for the rest of the summer. But I’m trying not to get too bogged down in the details until there’s an actual job offer on the table. Still, I spent a good chunk of the day doing just that.

In other news, my physical therapist arrived at 9am, completely surprising me because I’ve lost all track of days. We had our session outside in the sunshine, and she even taught me how to sleep on my side again! Hallelujah!

I stayed outside after she left and even convinced Dave to take me for a drive. We chatted about the potential moves, both the pros and cons. I spent some more time outside after lunch, but then my right foot started feeling a bit puffy, so I retreated indoors. The rest of the evening was spent inside, and I was in bed by 9pm. Rock and roll, I know.

So, that’s the latest! Stay tuned for more updates on the Great Job Hunt of 2025. Will we be eating cheesesteaks in Philly or sipping Saba Spice in the Caribbean? Only time will tell! Wish us luck!
