Hello, music lovers and drama avoiders! This week has been a whirlwind of ABBA tunes, questionable brunch decisions, and a whole lot of strategic maneuvering to keep the peace at home. Let’s dive in, shall we?
First things first, let’s rewind to Tuesday and Wednesday. Picture this: me, surrounded by the detritus of our soon-to-be-former life, while Dave transforms into a super-salesman, determined to offload every last knick-knack and dust bunny before our big move. Think “Antiques Roadshow” meets “Hoarders,” but with slightly less emotional baggage (hopefully).
Thursday was Albus’s big day – neutering day! The surgery went smoothly, but the cone of shame? Not so much. Let’s just say Albus wasn’t a fan. Dave, ever the problem-solver, ordered a spay suit. I had my doubts, and… well, let’s just say it involved a certain bodily fluid and a swift return to the cone. Sometimes, you just gotta admit defeat.

Friday was all about embracing my inner Dancing Queen. I snagged some free tickets to an ABBA tribute band at Mohegan Sun, and road-tripped with my fabulous friends, Samantha and Jenn. The band was surprisingly awesome – they even had ABBA’s original bass player! The evening was a blast, but my stamina paid the price. I was hoping to sleep in the next day, but insomnia had other plans.
Saturday dawned with a double dose of exhaustion, as Jenn was also suffering from insomnia. Still, adventure called! We ventured out to a local brunch spot celebrating their fall menu launch. Sadly, the “heated” patio was more like a brisk arctic tundra, the band played elevator music, and the menu was limited to seasonal dishes only. It was a trifecta of disappointment, and we made a hasty retreat.
And then, the plot thickened. Our house FINALLY went on the market on Friday, and we had our first showing on Saturday at 6pm. Since the brunch was disappointing, I was unexpectedly home. This meant I was roped into the “clear the house” mission with Dave, Albus, and Jenn. Now, Dave has been a bit… *snippy* lately. Stress levels are high, and his patience is shorter than a gnome’s legs. To avoid a full-blown marital meltdown, I decided to tread very carefully.
Cue the dramatic music! In his haste to get out the door, Dave dropped his phone, shattering the screen into a million pieces. A quick trip to the AT&T store revealed that replacing it would cost a whopping $200. Since it’s just his temporary phone for Saba, it wasn’t worth it.

So, what’s a girl to do? I retreated to the great outdoors, armed with a bottle of white creme de cacao, Baileys, and a splash of milk. Jenn joined me, and we concocted some surprisingly delicious cocktails while I practiced my zen-like ability to avoid conflict.
Sunday was a day of recovery. I visited my old neighbors, dropped Jenn off at her new place (which, by the way, is adorable), and spent the rest of the day recharging my batteries. Monday was ladies’ night, and I regaled my friends with tales of our upcoming adventure, basking in their envious gazes.
So, there you have it – a week of musical highs and lows, canine shenanigans, and a whole lot of effort to keep the peace. Stay tuned for more updates as we get closer to our big move! And remember, sometimes the best way to avoid drama is a well-timed cocktail and a good dose of perspective. Cheers!
